The world rejoiced upon seeing the news that OBAMA has been elected as president of the United States. After 8 years of the Bush administration, Americans clamored for CHANGE. And hopefully, Obama can deliver to that promise.
On the flipside, while the whole world was celebrating the Obama win, California has voted to ban same-sex marriages (Proposition 8). This is another landmark setback to equal civil rights for all.
It is ironic that California carried Obama whose campaign is centered on change and hope, but also closed the doors to same-sex couples who just want the same civil rights given to them as any man-woman couple.
