Dustin Lance Black

The screenplay writer of Milk (also won in the Oscars and WGA I think) got victimized by the proliferation of his his personal and intimate pictures in the internet. PerezHilton also reports that a video is available. It will take a few more hours/days for that to hit the web. This is really unfortunate. :-(

Swine Flu arrives in Manila!

First case of A(H1N1) in RP confirmed

Health Secretary Francisco Duque on Thursday evening announced the first case of influenza A (H1N1) in the Philippines.

Duque, who is currently at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Geneva, said in a teleconference that a Filipina patient who came from a trip abroad last May 18 tested positive for the A (H1N1) virus.

"The Department of Health is officially announcing this evening the first confirmed case of influenza A(H1N1) in the Philippines," Duque said.

"I can confirm a woman is now in quarantine and has been diagnosed with the A(H1N1) virus," Duque said.

She came from a trip to the United States and Canada with her parents, Duque said. Symptoms were not detected on her upon her arrival.

The ten-year-old girl, who is not yet identified, showed symptoms - fever, cough, and sore throat - a day after her arrival in the country and was rushed to a hospital.

He said that the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) got hold of tissue samples from the patient last May 20, and confirmed Thursday that she tested positive for the virus.

The patient is currently being treated at an undisclosed medical facility, Duque said, and is now only suffering from a sore throat.

Arroyo 'concerned'

The DOH is also not disclosing the airport where the patient arrived, and from what province, city or region the patient came from.

DOH officials have also said that President Arroyo is "very concerned" by this development.

Duque also said that contact tracing is already ongoing. The patient's family has been informed and has been asked to perform self-monitoring and quarantine.

"The woman returned with her family who are also being monitored by health authorities," he added.

Duque however clarified that there is no A (H1N1) outbreak in the country and that the government is doing everything to prevent it.

Seven other people are under observation at different Philippine hospitals but laboratory tests have not been completed, the official said.

"We reiterate to the public that the government is on top of the situation and everyone is advised to be vigilant," Duque said.

Some 49 people who had been put under observation in government and private hospitals since May 1 after showing symptoms of the virus have since been discharged, health officials said. With reports from Joey Villarama, ABS-CBN News, dzMM, and the Agence France-Presse

Interruption

Potipot sunset

We had one of our mandatory leaves last Friday and thought that it was the best time to go out of the Metro and relax a bit. It was a good interruption to the daily grind especially now that we have not heard much of good news.

It was just an overnight trip to Potipot, Zambales where we left Manila around 4:30 AM and settled under the shade of the trees in the isolated island by 11:30 AM (actual trip was just 4-5 hours). The place was not busy so we had a very relaxing time with friends. It was bliss.

Until next time!

The Night Before Valentines

I had a fun time last night with our Singles Night Out in MOA after work. We did not have any dates for Valentine's so better spend it with good ole' friends, right?

Traffic was a bit bad but the conversations inside KatPuj’s car let the time pass with little discomfort. We left the office around 6:20 PM and arrived in MOA around 7:40 PM already due to the heavy traffic. Christa slumdogged us because she’s “sick”. So, in the end it was just Arthur, KatPuj, Mark and myself.

There was a big crowd already when we arrived and Boyce Avenue started already their set. They’re hot and talented! I can remember them singing Umbrella, Change Your Mind, Wonderwall, With You, The Freshmen, the "medley" and Chasing Cars. I was ecstatic that they closed the night with Bleeding Love! Although, the I would be happier if they sang Apologize as well. You do not win all. :-)

I am still thinking if I’m gonna drop by Megamall tomorrow to catch another glimpse. I was just too far yesterday. I think I’ll be too lazy to haul my ass tomorrow, so I have to just stick to youtube videos once again.

After the free concert, we went to Hooters to have some inflated chicken wings! Still good and still delicious and I’m beginning to enjoy the hot wings. Perfect way to celebrate Singles Awareness Day! :-)

POTAAAAAA! TRABAHO MO DI MO KAYANG GAWIN! GAGO!

History, Opportunities and Reality

Opportunities. I’ve been a firm believer of creating opportunities for yourself if nothing comes your way. You just do not wait for the things to come your way, but you find a way to reach your goals and dreams. I believe in action rather than inaction. Of course, it’s not just YOU that can mobilize things because even I have to admit that external and more powerful forces do come into play that can either stop you on your tracks or move you forward/backward; faster/slower.

History. I love history because ideally, it’s a record of things that happened. It should list down the strengths, weaknesses and environment when those events happened. It gives you reputation whether good or bad. It measures your worth; even if it’s big or small. The only problem is that history is interpreted usually by those in power and they have the choice to either use that history in drawing the future, or ignore and do what they believe is right not learning from the past.

Why am I sharing skewed thoughts about history and opportunities suddenly? Reality. It sucks big time. The only bright side I see is that even with the forces going against/with you, it does not take the simple and basic fundamental power of personal choice.

Dead Stars

Pak shet. Bakit ganun?! Hindi mo talaga ma-gets what happened. Or take it to the extreme ala-Hayden Kho and orchestrate a dramatic yet unsuccessful suicidal attempt to get his attention? Ano, ano?!

Well, ma-pride ako so ignore ako. Pero siyempre, ang utak ko parang sumali sa F1; ang daming laps ng mga racing thoughts where pit stops do not exist. Wild.

Dahil judgmental ako, kinilatis ko. In fairness, big improvement. Naging matipuno ang kanyang tindig. Tumangkad. Aged gracefully baga. Naks, One More Chance na One More Chance.

Kidding aside, ganun e, nagbabago ang tao. Some people change for the better, and some for the worse. Pag-asa. Meron. Go metapisika!

Pero I did not really dwell on the divorce of the past and current images. So sabi ko, let’s turn this positive! Let’s take this as a challenge. If kaya niya, kaya ko ding magbago to the better. It fuels you to be better.
